We went to the school carnival tonight. It was amazing and fun. Rick ended up taking Oliver and Sophie home because Oliver was sick. It was just me and Aidan. He went on a 3-wheeler low rider race track thing, but his legs were just a little too short for him to pedal it on the grass. I asked if he wanted me to give him a push, but he said, "no." Meanwhile, the other kids are zipping around him 3, 4, 5 times. I ask him again. "No." We went around and did all the games and other little rides. We were both tired at the end of the evening. On our walk home I asked if I could hold his hand. He very nicely said, "no." I was crushed. My baby doesn't want me to hold his hand. Then I was looking through his school papers and found this written on the back of one of them. I'm grateful for little surprises from my baby, I mean big kid.

Awwwww....! That is so, so sweet.
I bet you get lots more of those notes the next couple years.
That boy is too much! I did not like the 'not in public' phases my kids went through. We forget they are growing up until they 'make' us see it with things like--don't hold my hand in public, don't kiss me if others can see....
