203: Edible landscaping

Photobucket
We visited the botanical gardens today. I loved the children's gardens. Half the plants were edible and it was beautifully landscaped. I never thought of doing what they did with corn. CORN! It's a big, beautiful grass! I need to go back and take more photos so I can get ideas for the yard. I am SO planting a pineapple! I'm grateful for things that get me excited to try a new project.

so do you plant a pineapple and get a pineapple tree? I am so curious now?

I've heard you can take a pineapple top and put it on the ground and it will grow. It's like a bromeliad plant.

The first time I saw a pineapple plant I was so amazed!

Pretty pic. I want to see the corn, too. I have planted a pineapple top in water (like potatoes) and had them root but they don't seem to like snow too much (for science for my kids).

My friend always plants the tops of her pineapples and has had good luck with them her, she just plants them outside in her garden. will they grow in Virginia?
