258: He didn't forget!

Photobucket
All summer I worked with Aidan on some of the things he didn't quite master in Grade 1. And I didn't want him to forget everything else over the summer, either. We worked on mostly math and sentences. Yes, I'm a mean Mom. Everyday I had him study before he could have any screen time. I made sure not to call it homework. We called it his "studies." Sure, I let him have vacations off. And there were some days when he opted for no screen time and refused to do his "studies." But, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw his work from the first week of Grade 2. (He had a hard time with a-b-c order last year.) I'm grateful he can see the benefits of his hard work and that he is loving second grade.

There's nothing wrong with giving her kid a head start in class. He might not appreciate it at the time, but at least you weren't hard headed about it and he did have some say in whether or not he actually did it. Glad he's doing so well.

You are a great mom! I wish I had him in my class! I'm so jealous of his teacher!

(I think I have that exact paper in my files!)

Good job, Aidan!

I always have my kids do school work in the summer....they actually enjoy it and sometimes remind me that we needed to do it.

clammy, that is because they are girls. girls love to play school. boys it is a evil necessity. I think you are a GREAT mean mom. I have my kids practice math facts over the summer and over our long spring and October breaks.

WTG Aidan!
