260: Pretend preschool?

Photobucket
Today was Oliver's first day of preschool. I'm doing a preschool co-op with a few other moms. It's just once a week for two hours. Oliver has been asking about starting school all summer and was so excited for today. So after I picked him up I was buckling him into his seat and he says, "When am I going to go to real preschool. That was just pretend preschool." I tried to explain that even though it was at someone's house it was still real school. Finally, at dinner time, when he was telling daddy about all the fun stuff he did at "pretend preschool", it comes out that he thinks it wasn't real school because he didn't get to RIDE THE BUS! Oliver has been watching Aidan get on the school bus for the last two years. I can only imagine how disappointed and confused he must have been this morning when I was taking him to school in the van instead of putting him on the bus. Poor little guy. I hope he isn't scarred for life. I'm thankful for a child's unconditional love, even if he doesn't get to ride the school bus this year.

How fun for you guys! Maybe you could plan a field trip and ride a bus somewhere with the group.

Thanks for the reminder of how kids think so literally.

Sorry to hear he was so disappointed, but it won't be long before he's gestting on the bus. They grow up so fast!
