129: Happy Mother's Day?

Photobucket

Mother's Day started out nice enough. Handmade cards from the kids. Hubby got up earlier to get the kids ready for church..... But by dinner-time the kids were bickering and driving me to the brink of losing it. That's when I canceled Mother's Day from now until forever. That way I won't trick myself into expectations of being the perfect family for a day. That way I won't be disappointed... disappointed that I wasn't the perfect mom because I set myself up for failure with unrealistic expectations of what the perfect mom is. I'm grateful for my family, imperfections and all.

It's not my favorite day. I mostly dread it. Except for my mom. You're still a perfect mom to me. Especially your honesty.

I second your feelings. Most of the time even though everyone said it, it behavior always made it feel like a lye! It got to where I really hated it. But eventually it got better. And I could enjoy it again. I think Sunday is a terrible day to have Mother's Day, just doesn't work when kids are little.

At least all the kids looked at the camera for the picture!

Oh my goodness....that describes my mothers day to a T! I feel the same way....every year I try not to get my hopes up on that day of being pampered and the kids being on best behavior, but I always do and then I end up disliking the day.

I canceled Mother's Day, too.
