Memo to myself: don't leave gift shopping until 8:30 the night before your kid's birthday. You might end up at the check out counter at the toy store and find you don't have your wallet and have to go home without the only-one-left-in-town doll and don't have time to run back because they'll be closed by then. Then you'll be mad at yourself while you're up at 10pm making the cake that you also put off until the last minute.
